Where is it that I turned off Edit Restrictions for ‘news”? In the filter? In the code you just sent me in the other forum topic, you still have restrict_it=false. Is that right? Now when i login and test a user with SDoL Page Editor and News (with restrictions to a single category, I still see the News that has that category, but I still can add ore than one News Category, beyond the one I Allowed. in this screen, it shows the User I described above and it shows that I was able to publish to a category that I did set to be Allowed. Please look with the Admin rights I just emailed you. I created a user (which you can create one too if you want) that was a SDoL Page Editor, and News for the other Role. And I have one Page/Post ID Allowed (but it is showing All Pages), and one Category ID (for “McCaskey Campus” in the News categories). https://www.screencast.com/t/eG2WTzPPzb When I go to News and click Add New, this is what happens – https://www.screencast.com/t/QH2I2cz6z – it preselects the one Category I had in the Allow, but it let’s me see and choose any of the others.

I have to create multiple instances of this function and I have (changing the function name to be unique). I did exactly the same thing as before where I create a Role called News which is for the News CPT. https://www.screencast.com/t/90vxmv9z My test user is set to a SDoL Page Editor and gives editing access to one Post ID and also access to the News Role. https://www.screencast.com/t/sBK5LYeF But when I login to test the User, it shows all the News (which is good) and let’s me add News (which is good), but in Pages, it is ignore the restriction to only Allow one Page (based on Post ID) as seen here https://www.screencast.com/t/zetJ7sf5s Any idea why this exact same method works when I use the Scholarship Role with SDoL Page Editor (and Allow one Post ID), but I simply change the User’s Other Roles from Scholarship to News (and set the new Post ID and Category ID), it shows ALL Pages with Edit capabilities?

I tried this and it did not work. I also tried “editor” like you have it. I also tried using “sdol-page-editor” for the current-user-can value (because that is the role we use to restrict pages/posts) but it did not work.

That was it! The User had a restriction to a Page (one Page ID). I need that user to have this Scholarship Role, and another Role, but only access to one Page to edit. Is that possible? I set the Role to what I called “SDoL Page Editor” (which access to Pages only) and I did this (Additional Role) and set the Post ID of the Page the user needs to be able to edit. https://www.screencast.com/t/mSjZ1j4RiL

As a followup, I have a Role setup called Scholarships. Now we are showing the Custom Post Types, but no actual posts appear for these users. Only full Administrators. When I create a role with less access than admin, and I am giving them all access to that CPT (all capabilities). They can Add a New one, but none of the already existing Posts are appearing. In the Core capabilities, they have important items like read and edit_others_posts. Any idea?

The problem I am having is when “Administrator” is not showing in the dropdown menu for “Select Role and Change its Capabilities” as shown here: https://www.screencast.com/t/nPZ9xVBq To me that would make sense because shouldn’t the default Administrator role have access to everything, regardless of what what settings are applied in URE, such “Force custom post types to use their own capabilities”? And whether I enabled “Force custom post types to use their own capabilities” or not, the list still does not show “administrator”

Hi. After we did this last item, it worked for our URE-create Roles. But we noticed when we create new Custom Post Types (as the default WordPress Administrator), we are not seeing the Custom Post Type in WordPress. I deselected the setting of Force Custom Post Types to use their own capabilities” and that fixed it for us. But now I assume that will break what we did. Any idea why Administrators can’t access Custom Post Types that are new?

also, I tried checking the option for “Own Data Only” for that user but that did not help.

The User set to see only one Page and that works. But when I go to Media, they can SEE all Media (which is good), and they cannot delete Media, not even the Media they uploaded that is used for that page. I also tried access the Media via the Page, and then looked for the Delete Permanently link but it was not there. Current setting for this role are only: delete_others_pages, delete_pages, edit_others_pages, edit_pages, edit_published_pages, read, and upload_files.

Is there a way for this same Role to allow the User to Delete their Media, but only their media? We don’t want them to be able to delete any Pages. This will help keep our Media clean (when they make a mistake uploading a Media file they will no longer use). Right now we have Upload Files on which means they can view and upload, and not delete any. Thanks

That was it. It was Edit Others Pages. I did not know I needed to explicitly select that if I was defining what Pages the User can edit in Edit Restrictions. Thanks!
